2023 – 2024 OVERVIEW

The Greater Chicago Food Depository is a not- for-profit, tax-exempt (Section 501(c)(3)) food bank serving Chicago and Cook County. As Cook County’s leading hunger-relief organization, the Food Depository is part of a united community effort working to bring food and hope to our neighbors. Holding a four-star rating on Charity Navigator, the Greater Chicago Food Depository uses donations efficiently to address hunger and its root causes.

The Food Depository is a charter member of Feeding America, a national network of food banks and food-rescue organizations. The Food Depository solicits, obtains and distributes donated and purchased foods to member agencies including soup kitchens, pantries and shelters and to other feeding organizations. These agencies provide food to those at risk of hunger. The Food Depository’s fiscal year ends June 30.

In fiscal year 2024, we distributed the equivalent of 101 million meals to our neighbors throughout Chicago and Cook County– the most we’ve ever provided in a year. Thank you to everyone who helped make our response possible.
